Conversation with a 94-year-old

I talked to my grandpa tonight. He’s a funny guy, and his sense of time helps put my life in perspective. He wanted to know when I was going to visit my brother, Dan, in Colorado.

“I don’t know,” I said. “It would be nice to go during the summer, when it’s really hot here.”

“Yes, that does sound like a good idea,” Grandpa said. “I wouldn’t want to visit in the winter and have to ski down one of those mountains.”

“Me either,” I said.

“Maybe 60 or 70 years ago,” Grandpa said. “But not now.”

I shut up because I really don’t have any good excuse after hearing his.

  1. Explain your logic to me –
    You live in Texas.
Where it’s hot all year round.
You don’t want to go to Colorado…
    because it’s not hot there??!?
    hello? :)

  2. It’s hot here in the summer, so I would visit Colorado, where it is not so hot. I don’t want to go in the winter because I might be forced to roll head-first down a mountain.
