Maybe the Cubs will sign him

I attended Greg’s softball game tonight. He and his co-workers play in a league, and their season is off to a sour start. After watching the game tonight, I think I know why. They do play with a lot of heart, but sometimes the coordination is lacking. They were down by several runs toward the end of the game, when they started to make a comeback. One of their players charged from third base toward home. He looked tenacious — absolutely set on crossing home base. And he made it. But he tripped on home plate as he ran across. That pretty well sums up the course of the entire game.

In Sync

Sarah: “I was thinking I would make cookies tonight.”

Greg: “That’s perfect because I was thinking I would eat cookies tonight.”

My Deadly Rampage

As I rolled my cart out of the grocery store last night, I saw a series of orange splotches on the ground behind my car. OK, they weren’t pure orange, but more of a nacho cheese color. Had someone spilled paint? Had a kid gone crazy with some sidewalk chalk? Nope.

It seems that in my rush to buy groceries, I massacred a school of Goldfish crackers with the tires of the car. I actually felt bad about this. But in the midst of my sadness, I saw a reason for hope. A lone fish lay untouched in the midst of the remains. He wasn’t in good shape though. His gills were motionless. His body gave nary a flop.
